Year 5 & 6

Welcome to Willow Class, our vibrant joint Year 5 and 6 community. This is an exciting stage of primary school where pupils grow in confidence, independence, and responsibility as they deepen their learning across the curriculum.

In the mornings, Year 5 pupils are taught by Mrs Cain, while Year 6 pupils work with Mr Culpin. This structure allows each year group to focus on the specific knowledge and skills they need at this point in their learning journey. In the afternoons, the two year groups come together as a single class, taught by Mr Culpin, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration, peer support, and shared learning experiences.

Across the year, Year 5 pupils continue to build strong foundations, developing curiosity, resilience, and key subject knowledge. Year 6 pupils take on increased leadership roles and prepare for the transition to secondary school, all while consolidating essential skills and tackling new challenges with growing maturity. Together, our mixed-age class fosters teamwork, positive role-modelling, and a strong sense of community.

Our dedicated teaching team is committed to ensuring every child is supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their best. We aim to create a positive, motivating environment where pupils feel confident, valued, and excited about the learning ahead.
