Year 6 is a fabulous year, full of wonderful and exciting opportunities to push children even further in their learning and in their own character. I am excited to support your child and help them make the most of their final year at Woodcote. We've had a great (and very busy) first half term in year 6 and now we are settled and ready to keep working hard.
We will have PE on Thursdays. Please come to school in a PE kit.
Please come and see me if you require any support with kit.
Your child will receive their homework task online every other Monday. Children have the opportunity to complete a reading task and mental arithmetic task. It is important to keep practicing these skills to raise their confidence - so please encourage your child to complete these at home.
Read. Read. Read. That would be my advice this year! Reading is fantastic - it helps to develop our imaginations, escape to new worlds, learn an incredible amount of new vocabulary and raises confidence in our writing. Please make sure your child brings their reading book to school every day so we can continue to assess their comprehension. We have a whole class read daily from our school book.
The following home learning tasks will be useful if you need to self-isolate as a family. Your child can work through these tasks over the coming weeks. If your child has an interest in a particular area, or wishes to take one of the projects in a different direction, we would love to see it at school when they return.
Thank you - Miss Tymon
