WOW! What an amazing autumn term, Year 5 have really demonstrated their amazing work rate and this has shown in the quality of work. I am sure that Year 5 will continue this into the spring term and we look forward in showing you the range of activities we have planned.
We will have PE on Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure children have the appropriate clothing and footwear as when the weather is on our side we will be outside.
If you need any support with this, please come and see me.
Ilearns go home on a Thursday and homework tasks range every week to ensure that the children can demonstrate the skills that they have started to develop in school. If you are ever unsure with the Ilearns that have been set, please come and see me so we can go through it together.
Reading and Spellings
We encourage children in Year 5 to become independent with their spellings; spellings go home every Friday and children will be tested each week. Spellings follow certain spelling features each week (ious, ice, ise etc.) and alongside this we will also include spelling words that children should be expected to spell by the end of Year 5.
We encourage the children to read at home as much as possible so they become fluent and really understand their books. When they read to you at home, please note this down in their journals. If your child has read independently using a text from home, try and ask them questions from the comprehension sheet so that together we can build confident readers who really enjoy reading!
Our fact sheets contain more information of what the children will be learning:
