Curriculum Fact Sheets
We will be updating this page over the next couple of weeks to give you more details about how we are supporting the children's learning.
For the initial few weeks, the whole school will be completing work around the book, ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers. This will form part of a transition curriculum to support the children’s return to school. They will also have another class book which the teacher will use to see where the children are with their learning so that relevant work can be planned.
In Maths the children will be focusing on place value, with lots of practical activities in the first few weeks. We will then be following the White Rose programme – the benefit of this is that if we should need to close a Bubble, the children will be able to access the lessons at home so their learning shouldn’t be interrupted.
The children will have additional ‘Active Minutes’ during the day and will need to come into school in their ‘outdoor PE kit’ on the day when they have PE (not during the first week). We will let you know which day this will be as soon as it has been finalised. This will prevent the need for PE bags to be brought into school. On the other days, the children should wear their normal school uniform.
The children will be bringing reading books home but this will be organised in a different, more structured way. We will send more information out about this within the first couple of weeks back. No books will be sent home initially.
We will be using ClassDojo a lot more over the year, including for homework and reading tasks. If you haven’t yet logged on, please do so. Please let us know if you are having difficulties with this and we will try to help.
